Lilu Hosking is a multidisciplinary artist working across robotics, fabric, sound, animation, film, and painting. Her practice seeks to illuminate the minutiae and interconnections of natural systems that live amongst us. She is also drawn to history and the ways in which time can be understood or experienced on alternative scales. Naivety plays a central role in her work; in a world that so often rewards cynicism, she finds tenderness and wonder to be quietly radical acts.

Raised atop a mountain where the treetops met the clouds, Lilu first pursued a Bachelor of Science majoring in ecology in Tasmania. She was fascinated by what we have learned about the natural world, and struck by how much of that knowledge already feels complete. During this time, amidst the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she witnessed how science communication was failing, and lives were lost because of it. This experience prompted her to turn toward art, where she continues to translate complex scientific systems and unseen connections into poetic, sensory experiences.
